Lenskart, India’s renowned eyewear brand, has officially announced that it is developing its new AI-based smartglasses, “B by Lenskart.” The company has stated that these new glasses will be equipped with Google Gemini Live-based voice assistant, Sony cameras, and several artificial intelligence (AI) features, and is preparing to launch them in the market by the end of 2025. So let’s see what these new AI-based smartglasses will be like.
AI-powered smartglasses
“B by Lenskart”! Lenskart’s upcoming AI-powered smartglasses device is called “B by Lenskart.” These glasses will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, the same chip used in the Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses. According to Lenskart, these glasses will be based on the Google Gemini 2.5 AI model and will feature an intelligent assistant that will seamlessly interact with the user.
These smart glasses have a built-in camera with a Sony image sensor. This allows users to directly take photos or record videos. Additionally, these smart glasses also offer UPI payments, live translation, and health information. Users can make payments directly by scanning QR codes with the glasses’ camera. This means that multiple payment systems, including UPI Lite payments, may be available.
A new platform for Indian developers?
Lenskart has announced that it will open its new smartglasses platform to Indian app developers. This means that app companies in the country can now adapt their services for these glasses or develop new apps. The company plans to collaborate in the food delivery, entertainment, fitness, and ticket booking categories. Popular apps like Zomato, Swiggy, and BookMyShow are expected to appear on the “B by Lenskart” platform in the coming days.
Meta has made its mark in the AI-powered smartglasses market with its Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. Now, “b by Lenskart” smartglasses signal the beginning of a new era in the Indian technology world. With an AI assistant, camera, and native payment support, these glasses could be an attempt to bring technology closer to everyday life. I believe this is a major step towards opening up the future of AI and smart wearables to Indian users.
