How to reset your password using the Apple ID account page

In this article, you will find out how to reset your password using the Apple ID account page if you have forgotten your Apple ID or password.

Step 1: Go to the Apple.com website and click on the Account section.
This will take you to the Apple ID account page. In the middle of the page, click on “Forgot Apple ID or Password.” Note: If you have checked the “Remember me” box, your password might appear in the drop-down menu on the sign-in screen. Check that first and click on it to see if it works.

Step 2: You will be redirected to a page where you need to enter your Apple ID.
Then, you will be taken to another page where you have to provide your name and email address linked to your account. Click on “Continue,” and then you will be able to reset your password.

Note: If you set up two-factor authentication for your account, your screen will look different, and you will be asked to verify your phone number (more on this later).

Step 3: Now, choose how you want to reset your password.
You can either use an email or answer security questions. Your choice depends on your personal preference.

Step 4: If you choose the email method, Apple will send instructions to your primary email address or to a Rescue email you may have set up.
When you see an email with a large green checkmark, you know it was sent. If you don’t receive the email, check your spam, junk, and trash folders, or repeat the steps. If you choose security questions, you must answer your birthday and specific questions before setting a new password.

If you have forgotten your password, answering security questions is a quick way to regain access to your account.
After all, only you know the answers to questions like “Who’s your favorite teacher?”

Step 1: Go to iforgot.apple.com and enter your Apple ID on the Apple ID account page.

Step 2: Click on “Reset my security questions” and then click Continue.

Step 3: Enter your password and click Continue.

Step 4: Choose three questions from the drop-down menu and answer them.
That’s all you need to do.

Two-Factor Authentication

If you have set up and enabled two-factor authentication (which is different from two-step verification), it is easier to reset your password because you can use it on a trusted iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple ID account page.
If you have trusted devices, you can use them to verify your identity. A passcode must be enabled on all iOS devices.

Using Your iOS Device

Step 1: Open the Settings app, tap your name, then select Password & Security.

Step 2: Tap Change Password at the top.

Step 3: Enter your current passcode, and then type in your new password.

Using the Apple ID Account Page

Step 1: Go to iforgot.apple.com and enter the trusted phone number you gave when setting up two-factor authentication.

Step 2: Click Continue to send a notification to your trusted iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

Step 3: When you receive the notification, tap “Allow” on your iOS device.

Step 4: Follow the steps provided, enter your password, and reset your password.

Note: If you no longer have access to a trusted device and can’t set up a new one, the process of changing your password becomes more complicated.
It’s possible to get two-factor authentication, but it can take several days to verify your identity before you can change your password.

Account Recovery Requested: How to Reset Your Password Using the Apple ID Account Page in the Account Recovery Section.

If you don’t have a trusted iOS device, you won’t be able to reset your password using the account recovery method.
This method is useful if your phone is lost or stolen. By recovering your account, you can prevent others from using your personal data. This process can take a few days, depending on how much information you provide to confirm your identity.

Step 1: When following the password reset steps on iForgot or iOS, you should see the “Request Account Recovery” option.

Step 2: Enter the number where Apple can reach you once your account is ready, and then type in the verification code sent to you to confirm your information.
After verification, you will get a confirmation that Apple has received your account recovery request and will notify you within the next few days.
